Carrollton rifles place fourth at state

Trojan air rifle lines up in tournament

The Carrollton High School precision air rifle squad finished in fourth place at the GHSA State Riflery Championships on Saturday at the Pool International Shooting Complex in Fort Benning.

The Trojans trailed only two-time defending state champion Ware County (1,169), Allatoona (1,164) and East Coweta (1,152) among the 17 state qualifiers.

Carrollton sophomore standout Morgan Frank finished in fourth place individually to lead the Trojan contingent, which also included Collin Grubbs, Ben Bradley, Thomas Harris and Taylor Berry.

Laci Jewell of Ware County took the top marksmanship honors at 395.8, followed by Jared Eddy of Columbus (395.6) and Ben Smith of Ware County (393.3).
