Carrollton boys capture region crown

The Carrollton High School boys' soccer team locked up the region title behind a 5-1 road victory over Woodland, Cartersville on Friday night.

The No. 3 Trojans (13-3, 7-0 Region 7-AAAAA) had five different players find the back of the net with Alex Calix, Jorge Lopez, Maxim Spruell, Javier Turcios and Alex Penaloza all scoring goals.

The Trojans host Kell on Monday evening at 8 for Senior Night in the region finale.

Carrollton girls 2, Woodland, Cartersville 1: The Lady Trojans (7-6-1, 7-0 Region 7-AAAAA) escaped with the narrow road win on Friday night, getting goals from Riley Mikilitus and Samantha Peavey.

The Carrollton girls also play host to Kell on Monday at 6 p.m. for Senior Night, where it can close out an undefeated region run and 7-AAAAA title.
