Trojan JV rumbles past Villa Rica

The Carrollton High School junior-varsity football team rumbled to a 41-12 victory over Villa Rica on Thursday evening to improve to 2-0 on the season.

The Trojans opened the scoring on a 53-yard strike from quarterback Nick Tuggle to Virgil Brewer and Mason Dill's PAT made it 7-0 a little over four minutes into the first quarter. Carrollton stretched it to 14-0 later in the first on a 13-yard touchdown run by Kaleb Thomaston and another Dill extra point.

Villa Rica scored at the 5:16 mark of the second quarter, but the two-point conversion was no good, leaving it 14-6.

With 3:38 remaining in the first half, Brandon Marenco scored on a three-yard run with another Dill PAT and Thomaston followed with his second touchdown of the opening half — a 12-yard run — with 53 seconds remaining. Tristan Allen's two-point pass to Miles McLendon made it 29-6 at the break.

In the third quarter, Ahmad Jackson broke loose for a 55-yard run to set up his 12-yard touchdown run on the next play.

Thomaston tacked on his third touchdown of the night on a 14-yard run with 5:14 remaining in the fourth quarter, which was followed by VR's second score of the night at the two-minute mark for the 41-12 final.
