Trojans topple Tigers to open week

The Carrollton High School baseball team opened a busy slate of home games this week by picking up a 7-6 victory over Adairsville on Monday evening at Cole Field.

The Trojans (8-3) were led offensively by Asa Awbrey, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and an RBI, while Charlie Lanier (2-for-3, 2 SB, 2 RBI), Jared Aldridge (2-for-3, 3 SB, RBI), Andy Smith (1-for-2, 2B) and Chris Gaiter (1-for-3, 3 RBI) also had solid days at the plate.

Will Carney earned the win on the hill, while Ty Murray got the save. Brock Britton struck out three in 1.2 innings of action and Ryan Anderson also fanned three in 1.1 innings of work.

The Trojans remain home to host Chapel Hill on Thursday and LaGrange on Friday.
