The Carrollton High School baseball team received a gem from Jared Soliz on Friday night in a 2-0 win over South Paulding at Cole Field.
The senior hurler fired a complete-game shutout with 12 strikeouts to shut down the Spartans, while the offense provided enough to push the Trojans to 7-3 on the season.
Destine Udombon (2-for-3), Brandon Prince (1-for-3, SB), Asa Awbrey (1-for-3) and Luke Schilling (1-for-3) led the charge at the plate, while Charlie Lanier had a pair of stolen bases.
Carrollton opens a stretch of three home games in a five-day span on Monday when it hosts Adairsville in a 5:55 p.m. contest.
